How To Make A Vintage Bee Tag

Thursday, September 13, 2018

Hello everyone, Linda Israel here. Today I’m sharing a Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial using Calico Collage digital images, old book page, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and items I cut using my Cricut. This Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial was made for a swap. Hope they like what I made.

Supplies used for the Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial.

Let’s begin the Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial. Select a piece of 4 x 6 ivory cardstock and cut the corners off to give it a tag shape. Select a page out of a book I used a bible and cut it to 3.75 x 5.75 inches and trim the top two corners to create a tag shape.
Next, select an image from the Calico Collage Digital sheet and enlarge it to 2.5 inches. Print on cardstock or print on copy weight paper and then back with cardstock. The Silhouette is a great tool to help with cutting images out, especially if cutting a lot of images. Using the Silhouette Software I duplicated the image and then flipped on so there were two views of the same image.
Apply Distress Ink to the edges of the tag and book page. Then apply distress ink to the edges of the round image and words.
Spray Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists through a stencil on the book page. Allow the page to dry.

Adhere the book page to the tag base using ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever and the No-Clog Writing Cap.
Cut a honeycomb using Cricut at 4 x 6 inches. I created the honeycomb by using a hexagon, duplicating, then welding to create the honeycomb. Save your work when you create a new element in Cricut, which saves a lot of time! Adhere the honeycomb to the tax base, cut the corners to match.
Apply a small amount of glue to the back of the 3.5 x 3.5 brown fabric and adhere to the center of the tag base. Adhere the lace on the the left side of the square.

Sew zig-zag stitches around the tag base and the Calico Collage image in the center.
Apply words using the Best Glue Ever. Punch a hole at the top of the tag and pull a strip of fabric through and tie a knot.
Last, apply Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint using the Medium No-Clog Writing cap to the Calico Collage image.
This was a fun Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial, I hope that you enjoyed it and are inspired to create!

Faux Button Card Ephemera

Thursday, July 26, 2018

Button! Button! Who's got the button?  Hello everyone!  Thank you for stopping by.  I'm here today to share with you my latest printable, Faux Button Cards!

Linda Israel sent me a message a month or so ago asking if I would be interested in making some button cards & I was happy to oblige.

I first searched the web for some inspiration.  Old button cards were very simple in design & normally the main focus of the art were people & the occasional bird.  Not many had flowers.  So I knew I wanted to make sure I had some cards that showcased roses and other flowers.

Another thing I wanted to focus on was creating my own logos for the button companies that would be displayed on my button cards. I didn't want to use a company name that could still be trademarked or copyrighted.  I think this was my favorite part of creating these button cards was creating the logos.

This collection of button cards include 12 printable cards.  Each card is approx 3x4 inches.  This size would be perfect for scrapbooking, junk journaling and of course decoratively storing your vintage buttons.

You can buy these button cards here

Linda also created a cute and fun way to use these cards.  I love how she made the cards a little more 3d.  I hope that you will take a moment and check out her tutorial.

One Fine Day Printable Junk Journal Kit

Saturday, April 28, 2018

I visited Hobby Lobby the other day and like any crafting crazed person, I walked down each and every aisle.  When I started down the faux flower isle I was hit with inspiration when I laid eyes on the stunning pink rose and daisies.

Once home I started creating my next "masterpiece".  This time I started with an image I found on Pinterest to digitally pick my color pallet from.  These flowers look just like the was I saw at Hobby Lobby.  Aren't they pretty?   Once the colors were selected I started gathering my ephemera to mix into my creations.  Some of the ephemera are from the Graphic Fairy and some are scans from my personal collection.

One of the pieces of ephemera I selected was a library card for a baseball book.  I picked this piece specifically because it was from a baseball book (my 1st son nursery theme) and the card is stamped with "Aug 5", this is a personally important date to me.  I tend to pick ephemera to incorporate that has some kind of meaning to me but without making the kit specific to me.

It was such a beautiful day out.  I opened up my windows to let the breeze in.  I enjoyed listening to the sweet birds and the blue sky was a stunning clear blue.  Much like the blue that I used to complement the pink & white of the kit.  It was because of that beautiful day I called this kit "One Fine Day".
This kit comes with 22 printable pages:
2 Journal Covers (1 with the word "Journal" & one without)
14 Journal Page Sets
6 Element pages.

So She Did Junk Journal Kit

Monday, February 26, 2018

A few weeks ago Beth Soler, Mixed Media Artist & Boss Lady of Rock Your Notebook, asked if I would like to work with one of her mixed media pieces.  I was so flattered and honored that she would want ME to turn one of her beautiful textured mixed media pieces into a Junk Journal Kit that I squealed "yes" & awaited her scanned piece of art.

Look at this beautiful piece of art!  I love it!  I couldn't wait to dive into this project.

Beth and I talked back and forth about the Junk Journal Kit & what she wanted it to represent and some of the elements to be in the kit.  She explained she wanted Butterflies & Cherry Blossom because they symbolize new life.  She also wanted this to be a positive kit, a kit that would inspire the woman using it.  The main quote she wanted was "She believes she could, so she did" This later became the title of the kit "So She Did".  Another quote Beth picked is a quote from Helen Keller - "Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.  Nothing can be done without hope & confidence."

The next thing we discussed was a color scheme.  With her beautiful art being on the dark side I knew I need to balance that out with a cream color.  Beth asked for blue and pink to be the main colors.  Blue & pink go so well together.  They are a dynamic duo and I knew it would be perfect.

To make this work I wanted to make both pink and blue cherry blossoms.  I know there is no such thing as blue cherry blossoms, but this is art anything goes!

Once I finished with the kit I showed it to Beth to get the OK before listing it to the shop.  She loved it, even said she teared up seeing her own art in a journal kit.

The "So She Did" Printable Junk Journal Kit contains 13 Digital Collage Sheets
8 Full Page Sets
5 Element Sheets
This journal is designed to make a 5.5x8.5 Journal. Each page sets print full size.
Each digital collage sheet will print out on an 8.5x11 inches (A4) page
