How to Make Shaker Button Cards

Monday, December 9, 2019

Hello everyone, Linda Israel here to share my tutorial on how I made these cute little shaker cards using images from Calico Collage, Beads, Buttons & confetti.

These are the supplies you will need for the shaker cards:
Using a button card digital download by Calico Collage, Linda applied three layers of double-sided foam tape. By adding the three layers it gives room for the buttons, sequins, beads, and confetti to move around without sticking.
If you don’t have double-sided foam tape, you can use several layers of cardboard, chipboard or even fun foam, just adhere each layer together until you get the desired height.

Taking some decorative washi tape she then applied that over the double-sided foam tape. This is a great idea to use up some of that washi tape that you have laying around.

Linda applied a black on white inspirational word to the top of the shaker card. You can add whatever you want to the outside of your shaker card to dress it up, however, these are being made for a journal so keeping the embellishments simple is a good idea.

Use bright and colorful beads, sequins and confetti to match the background of the base of your shaker card. If you find that your items are sticking to the sides of the foam, try using a powdered crafting pouch to the inside of your shaker card, it will reduce the static inside.
Try not to use too much filler items in your shaker cards so they move around freely without sticking together!

Creating these shaker cards are an easy and fun addition to your junk journals! Before you know it you will have made several of them that you can even send as gifts to your friends.
